Privacy policy
Effective October 3, 2026
DaddyDuty is a bedtime story app for kids aged 2 to 8. It is made by ParagraphAI Inc. (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the DaddyDuty app for iPhone and Apple Watch, and this website.
The short version
- DaddyDuty is for parents. A parent signs in, sets it up and starts each story. Kids don’t make accounts.
- What you tell us about your child is stored under your account and nowhere else.
- Stories are stored without your child’s name.
- No analytics or advertising code in the app sees your child’s data. There are no ads.
- Our analytics are about parents, not kids. They use a scrambled id, never your name or email.
- You can delete a child, or your whole account, in one tap.
- Questions go to privacy@daddyduty.com.
Who the app is for
DaddyDuty is directed to parents. A parent creates the account, enters any details about their child and starts each story. A child uses DaddyDuty only inside a story a parent started. The child can’t leave the story, change settings or open the Parent app without the parent’s PIN or Face ID. Face ID is checked by Apple on your device. We never see it.
What we collect
About you, the parent
- Your sign-in. Sign in with Apple, or your email address if you use an email link. We use it to sign you in and keep your family’s data under your account. If you hide your email with Apple, we only see Apple’s relay address.
- Your devices. A push notification token for each device, so we can tell you when tonight’s story is ready or when your kid is handling the phone.
- How nights go. Parent-level usage events, described under Analytics below.
- Crash reports. If the app crashes, a stack trace and an install id. No account id and no child data.
About your child, only what you enter
- First name. Used to record a few short audio clips of the name, so the narrator can say it.
- Age and pronouns. Used to set the reading level and write the story.
- Details you choose to add. Siblings, pets, a comfort object, favorite things, things to avoid, and one sentence about their day. Used to write the story.
- Nightly results. When the story started and ended, how often the phone was handled, and your vote in the morning. Used to show you how the night went and to make the next story better.
What we don’t collect
No photos, voice recordings, location or contacts. The app doesn’t use the microphone or the camera. It reads the motion sensor during a story to notice when the phone is picked up. Those readings stay in memory on the device and are never stored or sent. If you use your keyboard’s dictation button, Apple handles that under its own policy.
Where your child’s data lives
Under your account in our database and file storage (Google Firebase), and in the app’s private storage on your devices. Only your signed-in account and our story server can read it. It isn’t stored anywhere else.
How a story is made
Each night our server writes, narrates and illustrates your child’s story. It sends each service provider only what its step needs:
- Anthropic writes the story and checks it for safety. It gets the age band, pronouns and the details you chose to add. It never gets your child’s name.
- ElevenLabs reads the story aloud. It gets the story text. It gets your child’s first name only to record the name clips.
- Google (Gemini) and, as a backup, Black Forest Labs draw the pictures. They get a description of each scene, never your child’s name.
- Google (Firebase) stores your account and stories, sends push notifications and receives crash reports. Apple handles Sign in with Apple and delivers push notifications.
We use these providers only to run DaddyDuty and make your stories.
Stories never carry your child’s name
A stored story has a blank where the name goes. The name lives in separate short audio clips under your account, and your device joins them as the story plays. Family details, like a sibling, a pet or today’s sentence, stay in at most two parts of a story.
Stories that kids sleep well to may be added to a shared library for other families. Before that happens, those family parts are rewritten and recorded again in general words. A library story carries nothing from your family.
Analytics
We use PostHog to learn how nights go: whether the screen turned off, how long stories ran, how they ended, and morning votes. PostHog gets parent-level events only. Your id there is a one-way hash of your account id. It never gets a name, an email address, free text, or anything about your child except the age band (2 to 3, 4 to 5, or 6 to 8). There is no session recording, and PostHog discards IP addresses.
What we never do
- Show ads.
- Sell or rent data, or share it for advertising.
- Track you or your child across other apps or websites.
- Train models on your child’s data.
Deleting data
In the Parent app, behind your PIN or Face ID:
- Delete a child removes their profile, story history, name clips, family stories, pictures and nightly results.
- Delete account does that for every child, then removes your account and sign-in.
Each is one tap and finishes within a minute. The app then signs out and clears its storage on that device. Library stories stay, because they contain nothing from your family.
PostHog keeps the hashed analytics events after you delete your account, because they can’t identify you or your child. To have those erased too, write to privacy@daddyduty.com.
How long we keep data
We keep your account data while your account is open, until you delete it. Downloaded stories are removed from your device 7 days after their night.
Your rights as a parent
You can see and change what DaddyDuty holds about your child in the Parent app. You can delete it, or stop any further collection, at any time by deleting the child or your account. You can also write to privacy@daddyduty.com and we will do it for you and confirm when it’s done. This applies wherever you live.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Database rules let only your account read your family’s data. Keys for the story services live on our server, never in the app.
This website
daddyduty.com uses no cookies and no analytics. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs.
Changes
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change affects your child’s data, we tell you in the app before it applies.
